A Time To Be Thankful

What a wonderful day for many of us, filled with food, family, friends and for some a little football, the 4 F's of life. As we celebrated Christmas today as a 'growing' family, I had a chance to look at those sitting in the living room of my mother in-law's townhouse in Makakilo and thank God for every one of them. Too many times we go through life in the 'fast' lane, or the HOV (Hurrying or Venting) lane. Instead of wanting what we got, we rather have what we want; and that vicious cycle of consumerism, materialism, and hedonism fills the essence of our being.

When is enough....enough? How many I-Pads, I-Touch, Nano's, Wii's, X-Boxes, Playstations, Blackberry's, Kindle's, Louis Vuittons, Coach, Prada....do we need? Like I tell my kids, I'm an old man, seen a lot and have done a lot and when you get into the 2nd half of your life, you realize you have everything you need right in front of you. You have your family, your friends, a good meal and an opportunity to make memories.....because in your last moments on this Earth, your memories will be all you have to hold on to. So on this day, especially this day, make memories, make memories, make memories.

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2
